Instilling "Home" in a nationwide perspective requires much effort because it instills community and bonding among people from different walks of life. In the Singaporean context, this means also refers to a multi-race and cosmopolitan social landscape. A nation, by defined, is a "large body of people united by common descent, history, culture, or language, inhabiting a particular state or territory". It governs familiarity, where one is able to build friendships and bonds. Nationalism, also know as national pride, is enforced with our National anthem, pledge and celebrating National Days. Patriotic feelings are brought about, and similar principles cultured, through these efforts.

As a collective, Singaporeans often use "Singlish" to identify with one another. Such a slang is the common denominator that defines locality. The word "Local" often generates a heartwarming ring as it shows similar likemindedness.
